Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.  Psalms 51:2

B: Gretchen Speer

We are not big car wash people.  My van is almost always dirty, both inside and out, and I’m okay with that.  That’s just how we roll…literally.  But, after a quick trip back to visit family and several stretches on country roads you could hardly tell what color our van was.  I tried to convince my husband that the muddy brown hue complemented the blue, but he wasn’t having it.  So off to the car wash I went.

Somehow I ended up running this errand alone (Which is odd because my kids LOVE the car wash!).   As usual, as I sat in the quiet, the Holy Spirit began to speak.

“Does this process seem familiar?”

“Yes, I’ve been to the car wash several times before……….ahhh.  My heart needs this process just as much as my van does.”

After mulling it over I decided that it was no coincidence that I ended up at the carwash alone that day.  The Holy Spirit has a way of using the mundane things to bring understanding, and I realized that my need for the “washing of the water with the word” (Ephesians 5:26) is very similar to the process of deciding to take my van through the carwash.

We all have our messes.  God has plans for us that don’t include those messes.  Lets get cleaned up!

1)     We need to acknowledge that we are a mess and need to be cleaned up: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9

For I know my transgressions; And my sin is ever before me. Psalm 51:3

2)      We have to commit to the process: Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean ; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:70313)  We must align ourselves with the word, and take our hands off the wheel and trust. …to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word  Ephesians 5:26                                                                                              032

4)      We have to stay in alignment while being made clean: Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:2

033Even when we can’t see where we’re going. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:100105)  After God has worked on our hearts and removed the things clouding our vision we move forward towards what He has for us.  With pure hearts we are able to see clearly the path He has for us. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”  Matt 5:8014We all fall short; we all have our own messes.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

It happens, it’s human nature.  But, we have a choice to make.  We can submit the sin that’s crept in to God and stay fully submitted, or we can allow the mess to accumulate and cloud our vision to the point the we can barely make out the path in front of us.

So, where are you in the process?  God is calling you.  He DOES have a plan for YOU today.  Are there things clouding your vision?  Pride?  Jealousy?  Comparisons?  Lust?  Bitterness? Insecurity? Unforgiveness?    Submit your heart to Him and let him clean that mess up!

Have a GREAT day Mammas!
