How To Host a Pumpkin Carving Party

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year.  I love the cooler temperature!  I love the changing of the leaves to their vibrant colors!  I love the smell of fall spices; nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin, etc…  I love the fall decorations; pumpkins, scarecrows, hay bales, etc. Continue reading

Shine Your Light

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.  Do everything in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

It started out innocent enough.  I was communicating with the Chess Club members at my sons’ school.  (The chess club I started and led.) It was mid-October, and I was sending out an e-mail reminding families of that week’s meeting time.  I received this response from one of the parents. Continue reading

Smith Family Summer Summary 2013

This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series Ask the MOMS

We acknowledge that we do not have all the answers.  Here is a question from a mother of two who is expecting her third. If you have advice to share with this mom, please comment below.

“I’d love to see a blog post on what to do with kids who wake up early. My kids are early risers, and I’m dreading summer. Trying to come up with ideas. They are so awake and loud and this mommy is tired and weary. Especially being pregnant. Seems like it should be an easy solution, but I feel just overwhelmed and frustrated by it.” Laurel- Doylestown, PA Continue reading

By: Sarah Smith

As a child, I can recall spending Memorial Day weekend with my grandparents.  And that weekend always ended with a trip to the cemetery where most of our relatives were buried.  I remember seeing the names of ancestors I had never met.  It was a time of honoring those who had gone on before us.

It wasn’t until I married into a military family that I understood the history behind Memorial DayContinue reading
